Phenotype is an exploration of the rapidly expanding science of genetic engineering. The choice of materials, rusting riveted iron plates, imparts a sense early heavy engineering reminiscent of the industrial revolution whilst the contrasting organic form suggests a living growing organism. The intention is to explore parallels between the way in which steam power and industrialisation transformed the Victorian world and the vast changes that manipulation of genes will inevitably bring to the modern world.

Phenotype was exhibited at the McClelland Sculpture Survey & Award 2007, 18 November 2007 to 6 July 2008, McClelland Sculpture park, Langwarrin, Victoria and at Sculpture by the Sea - Bondi 2008 16 October - 2 November, Bondi Beach, Sydney. It has since been sold to a private collection.
